How it works

RankThisSite.com gives one simple answer: how popular a website is relative to the rest of the web.

When an exact Tranco rank is available, that is shown directly. For smaller websites, Chrome UX Report (CrUX) data provides a traffic-popularity range based on real Chrome usage.

To make those broad ranges more useful, RankThisSite combines them with OpenPageRank signals derived from the Common Crawl web graph. A calibrated model estimates where the site most likely falls inside the available range. If CrUX is unavailable, the same model can still provide a lower-confidence estimate from public web-prominence signals.

The calibration model retrains automatically each month using thousands of websites with known Tranco ranks and CrUX ranges. A new model is published only when it performs at least as well as the currently deployed model on held-out validation data.

Percentiles are approximate and currently contextualized against an estimated 305.3 million active websites. Estimated ranks are not audited pageview counts.
